Equipped with just brush, ink and paper, this form of art does not only requires skills & talent but also the grace of movements as every stroke of the brush counts as it glides along the paper. Abstract as it appears, calligraphy readily conveys emotion and personality of the individual artist through their art. Some even incorporate paintings into their masterpiece, creating a visual balance between Chinese characters and impressionistic drawings to convey their message.
We had the opportunity to present our calligraphy masters to the beautiful islands of Maldives, where they showcase their expertise and prepared Chinese couplets bearing auspicious blessings as souvenir gifts for the guests. It was indeed a great add-on in bringing the festival celebration vibe of Chinese New Year there especially for guests who are celebrating away from home.
And not to miss out our lions visiting the islands as well, performing stage stunts with walkabout greetings among the guests, spreading happiness and joyful smiles. We have our lucky characters to accompany the lions; a majestic Chinese Army General and prosperous Master Fortune whom gave out charming souvenirs to the guests.
